May 2012 IRCModelersClub Info !!
Z SCALE BIANNUAL NATIONAL CONVENTION The National Z Scale Convention is held every two years and this was the year for Denver. The convention was extremely successful with over two hundred ”Z Scalers” in attendance. This is an area of modeling that is becoming more and more popular. The excitement and interest levels at the convention were very high which is evidence of the progress this scale has made in recent years. InterMountain had a large booth at the convention featuring the Rokuhan line of track and other Z scale items. InterMountain also delivered its first Z scale freight car, the National Steel Car Company Canadian cylindrical grain hopper. The first production run is essentially sold out so we will be announcing reruns of these items as well as new paint schemes in the near future. InterMountain’s second freight car offering, the R-70-20 Mechanical Refrigerator Car, was also announced for the show. Reservations for this car will be taken early in the summer with delivery of the first run early next year. We are pleased to be involved in the development of product for this exciting scale and expect several new product releases over the next few years. Fifty of the Z scale conventioneers made the trek to Longmont and were able to tour the InterMountain facility. Our employees are always happy to see our customers show up at the door for a tour. Other than on the telephone it is the only chance they have to interact with our loyal customers. If you are in the area you are always welcome to stop in for a visit. SD40-2 LOCOMOTIVES The second release of the SD40-2 Locomotives is included in this packet. All of these locomotives will be equipped with the correct details for each paint scheme presented. This is a very complicated project as each of the railroads that bought these locomotives had their own ideas about how the locomotives should be configured. We recognize the need to produce the models as prototypically accurate as possible. PRODUCT SUPPLY As you can see from this month’s releases we have not yet recovered from the Chinese Lunar New Year holiday. Product deliveries are always difficult at this time of year and 2012 is no exception. We do, however, expect to see a significant increase in product releases throughout the rest of the calendar year. TRAIN SHOW SCHEDULE Please be sure to come by and visit our booth(s) at the Sherman Hill Model Railroad Show, Santa Fe Railway Historical & Modeling Society Convention, the National N Scale Convention, The National Train Show at the NMRA Convention, Trainfest and the Oklahoma City Train Show in the months to come. |
